Essential Ecclesiology
1.Jesus is worshipped as Lord, savior, leader of His church
Acts 2:36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
2.Scripture is taught and obeyed as truth
2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
3.Believers gather regularly for fellowship and prayer
Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
4.Sacraments practiced – prayer, baptism, communion
5.Spiritual authority is present, credible, and active, church discipline is exercised to guard the church and aid the individual believer
Matthew 18:18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be[a]bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[b] loosed in heaven. 19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
6.God’s mission of disciple-making and servanthood, an expression of God’s Kingdom mission
